Plunger, Bucket, Adjustable wrench, Pipe brush, Rubber gloves, Flashlight
Wear rubber gloves to protect your hands from grime and bacteria., Ensure the area under the sink is dry to avoid slipping or electrical hazards., Do not use chemical drain cleaners with vinegar or baking soda to avoid reactions.
Clear out any items stored under the sink to access the plumbing easily. Put on rubber gloves to protect your hands from grime and chemicals. Place a bucket directly under the P-trap to catch any water or debris. Use an adjustable wrench to loosen the slip nuts on both ends of the P-trap. Carefully remove the P-trap and empty its contents into the bucket. Inspect the P-trap for clogs and clean it thoroughly using a pipe brush. Shine a flashlight into the drain pipe to check for visible blockages. Use a drain snake or pipe brush to remove any debris from the drain pipe. Reattach the P-trap, ensuring the slip nuts are tightened securely by hand. Pour half a cup of baking soda into the drain opening. Follow with one cup of white vinegar and allow the mixture to fizz for 10 minutes. Boil a kettle of water and carefully pour it down the drain to flush the system. Turn on the faucet and check if the water drains smoothly. If the clog persists, repeat the baking soda and vinegar process once more. Ensure all connections under the sink are dry and leak-free. Wipe down the area and return any items removed from under the sink. Dispose of the debris and dirty water from the bucket appropriately. Wash your hands thoroughly after completing the task. Monitor the sink over the next few days to ensure the clog does not return. Consider using a drain strainer to prevent future clogs.
