            Jumper cables
Ensure both vehicles are turned off before connecting cables., Never allow the red and black clamps to touch each other., Connect the final black clamp to a metal ground, not the dead battery., Wear eye protection when working near car batteries., Avoid leaning over the battery during jump start.
Park the working vehicle close enough so the jumper cables can reach both batteries without stretching. Turn off both vehicles completely and remove keys from the ignition. Open the hoods of both vehicles and secure them with the hood props if necessary. Locate the positive (+) and negative (−) terminals on both car batteries. Attach one red jumper cable clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the dead battery. Attach the other red jumper cable clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the good battery. Attach one black jumper cable clamp to the negative (−) terminal of the good battery. Attach the other black clamp to an unpainted metal surface on the dead car’s engine block, away from the battery. Ensure all clamps are securely connected and not touching any moving parts. Start the engine of the working vehicle and let it run for 2–3 minutes. Try starting the dead vehicle; if it doesn’t start, wait another few minutes and try again. Once the dead vehicle starts, let both vehicles run for a few minutes to stabilize the charge. Remove the black clamp from the grounded metal surface on the dead car. Remove the black clamp from the negative terminal of the good battery. Remove the red clamp from the positive terminal of the good battery. Remove the red clamp from the positive terminal of the previously dead battery. Keep the jumped car running for at least 15–30 minutes or drive it to help recharge the battery. Close both hoods securely before driving. If the car doesn’t start after several attempts, the battery or starter may need professional attention. Dispose of or store jumper cables properly to avoid damage.

Keep a set of quality jumper cables in your trunk at all times., Clean corroded battery terminals before connecting cables if safe to do so., Use a portable jump starter if another vehicle is not available., Let the jumped car run or drive it for at least 30 minutes to recharge the battery., If your car frequently needs a jump, have the battery and alternator tested.
