Orbital sander, Putty knife, Paint roller, Paint tray, Sponge, Utility knife, Painter's tape, Screwdriver
Wear a dust mask and eye protection when sanding., Ensure good ventilation when using refinishing products., Turn off water supply before removing sink fixtures., Use gloves when handling chemicals or paint.
Clear the countertop of all items and remove any appliances or decor. Clean the surface thoroughly using a degreaser to remove oils and residues. Turn off water supply and remove sink fixtures if they obstruct the work area. Use an orbital sander with fine-grit sandpaper to scuff the linoleum surface evenly. Wipe away all sanding dust with a damp sponge and let the surface dry completely. Inspect the surface and fill any gouges or cracks with wood filler or patching compound. Allow the filler to dry fully, then sand smooth and wipe clean again. Use painter’s tape to mask off walls, sink edges, and any areas not being refinished. Lay down drop cloths to protect floors and cabinets from drips or splatter. If your refinishing kit requires it, apply a primer coat evenly with a roller. Let the primer dry according to the product instructions before proceeding. Stir the base coat thoroughly and pour it into a paint tray. Apply the base coat evenly using a roller, working in small sections. Allow the base coat to dry completely as directed by the kit instructions. If using a decorative coat, apply it now using the method specified in the kit. Let the decorative coat dry fully before applying the top coat. Apply the top coat evenly to seal and protect the surface. Allow the countertop to cure for the full time recommended by the manufacturer. Reinstall any removed fixtures and reconnect the water supply. Remove painter’s tape carefully and clean up the work area.
