Wear gardening gloves to protect your skin from dirt and irritants., Ensure power tools are turned off and unplugged before use., Handle sharp tools carefully to avoid cuts., Water plants gently to prevent soil erosion or damage., Avoid overwatering to prevent root rot., Use sunscreen and protective clothing if working in direct sunlight., Keep tools and materials away from children and pets.
Select a location in your garden that receives at least 4-6 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal parsley growth. Loosen the soil with a garden fork to a depth of about 12 inches, removing weeds and debris for a clean planting bed. Mix in a generous amount of compost into the soil to improve fertility and drainage. Fill your container or garden bed with the prepared soil, leaving about 1 inch from the top. Sprinkle parsley seeds evenly on the soil surface, then cover lightly with about 1/4 inch of soil using your hand or a small rake. Gently water the area with a watering can or hose, ensuring the soil remains moist but not soaked. Apply a layer of mulch around the seedlings to help retain moisture and suppress weeds. Keep the soil consistently moist by watering regularly, especially during dry spells, avoiding overwatering. Once seedlings emerge, thin them out to 4-6 inches apart to give each plant room to grow. Every 4 weeks, feed the parsley with a diluted balanced liquid fertilizer to promote healthy foliage. If the afternoon sun is intense, provide temporary shade with a cloth or shade net to prevent leaf scorch. Begin harvesting parsley leaves once the plants reach about 6-8 inches in height, snipping leaves at the base.
