Ensure the damper is aligned properly and moves freely without binding.

Slowly close the tailgate to test the damper’s resistance and smooth operation.
Open and close the tailgate several times to confirm consistent damping action.
Apply thread locker to bolts if recommended by the damper kit instructions.
Torque all bolts to manufacturer specification using a torque wrench.
