Iron or heat press, Scissors, Printer, Cutting mat, Craft knife or cutting machine
Use caution when handling a hot iron or heat press., Work on a heat-resistant surface to avoid burns or damage., Keep fingers away from heated surfaces during pressing., Ensure good ventilation if using heat transfer materials with fumes.
Choose or create a design using graphic software or download a printable design. Print the design onto iron-on transfer paper using an inkjet printer. Allow the printed design to dry completely before handling. Cut out the design carefully using scissors or a cutting machine. Preheat your iron or heat press to the temperature recommended by the transfer paper instructions. Lay the T-shirt or tote bag flat on a heat-safe surface and smooth out wrinkles. Position the cut-out design face down on the desired area of the fabric. Place a sheet of parchment paper over the transfer to protect it during heating. Apply firm, even pressure with the iron or heat press for the time specified by the transfer paper instructions. Ensure all edges of the design receive equal heat to prevent peeling. Allow the fabric and transfer to cool completely before touching. Slowly peel off the backing paper to reveal the transferred design. Check the design for any untransferred areas and reapply heat if needed. Let the printed item rest for at least 24 hours before washing. Wash the item inside out in cold water to preserve the design. Avoid using bleach or harsh detergents on the printed fabric. Hang dry or tumble dry on low to extend the life of the print. Store unused transfer paper in a cool, dry place to prevent damage. Clean your iron or heat press surface after use to remove any residue. Test the process on a scrap fabric piece if you're using a new transfer paper brand.
