Park your vehicle on a flat, level surface and set the parking brake for safety.
Turn off the engine and wait at least 10 minutes for the oil to cool down to avoid burns.
Open the vehicle's hood and locate the oil drain plug underneath the engine.
Place a drain pan directly beneath the drain plug to catch the old oil.
Use a socket wrench to carefully loosen and remove the drain plug, allowing the oil to drain completely.
Once drained, replace the drain plug with a new gasket if available and tighten securely to prevent leaks.
Locate the oil filter, use an oil filter wrench to remove it, and dispose of the old filter properly.
Apply a small amount of new engine oil to the gasket of the new filter to ensure a proper seal.
Install the new oil filter by hand, tightening it securely without over-tightening.
Remove the oil fill cap on top of the engine and pour in the recommended amount of new engine oil using a funnel.
Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes, then turn it off and check for leaks around the filter and drain plug.
Use the dipstick to verify the oil level, adding more oil if necessary to reach the recommended level.
Close the hood and clean up any spilled oil or tools used during the process.
Properly dispose of used oil and filters at a recycling center or authorized disposal site.
