Park your vehicle on a flat, stable surface and turn off the ignition to prevent electrical hazards. Engage the parking brake and put on safety goggles and gloves to protect against acid spills and sparks. Open the hood using the release lever and locate the car battery, usually near the front engine bay. Using a socket wrench, loosen the nut on the negative (black) terminal clamp and disconnect it carefully. Repeat the process for the positive (red) terminal, ensuring you do not let the tools touch both terminals simultaneously. Remove any clamps, brackets, or straps securing the battery in place with the appropriate tools. Lift the old battery out carefully, noting its orientation and handling it upright to avoid acid spills. Clean the battery tray and terminal connectors with a wire brush to remove corrosion and dirt, improving contact. Place the new battery into the tray, aligning the terminals correctly with the cables. Reconnect the positive terminal first, tightening the clamp securely but not overly tight. Reconnect the negative terminal last, ensuring a snug fit to prevent electrical issues. Secure the battery with any clamps or brackets removed earlier, tightening all fasteners properly. Start the vehicle to verify the new battery is functioning correctly and check for any warning lights. Close the hood securely and dispose of the old battery at a certified recycling center.
