Turn off the power to the garbage disposal at the circuit breaker and verify it's off. Place a bucket under the sink to catch any water from the pipes. Use a screwdriver to disconnect the drain pipes from the disposal unit. Twist the disposal unit counterclockwise to remove it from the mounting bracket. Remove the old mounting bracket using a screwdriver and clean the sink flange. Apply plumber's putty around the new sink flange and press it into place. Install the new mounting bracket by securing it with screws. Align the new disposal with the mounting bracket and twist it clockwise to secure. Reconnect the drain pipes to the new disposal unit using pliers. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks. Restore power at the circuit breaker and test the disposal. Run water and turn on the disposal to check for leaks and proper operation.
