Select a high-resolution photo and print it using an inkjet printer on regular paper.
Trim the printed photo to fit the size of your wood surface using scissors or a ruler.
Ensure the wood surface is clean, dry, and smooth before starting the transfer process.
Apply a generous, even coat of polycrylic to the wood using a foam brush.
Immediately place the photo face down onto the wet polycrylic-coated wood surface.
Use a squeegee or old credit card to gently press the photo down and remove air bubbles.
Secure the edges of the photo with painter's tape to prevent shifting during drying.
Allow the wood and photo to dry undisturbed for at least 8 hours or overnight.
Once dry, dampen the back of the paper with a wet sponge or paper towel.
Gently rub the paper with your fingers or a soft cloth to remove the paper fibers.
Continue dampening and rubbing until all paper residue is removed and the image is visible.
Let the wood dry completely after removing the paper to ensure a clear image.
Inspect the transferred image for any remaining paper and gently remove if needed.
Apply a thin, even topcoat of polycrylic over the image to seal and protect it.
Allow the final coat to dry according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Repeat the topcoat if desired for added durability and a glossy finish.
Clean your tools with water immediately after use to prevent polycrylic buildup.
Display or gift your finished wood photo transfer once fully cured.
