Turn off the water supply valves under the sink to prevent leaks and flooding. Open the faucet to release any remaining water and relieve pressure. Place a towel in the sink and plug the drain to catch dropped parts. Use a screwdriver or Allen wrench to remove the faucet handle screw. Lift off the handle carefully and set it aside. Use an adjustable wrench or pliers to loosen and remove the retaining nut. Pull out the cartridge or stem from the faucet body. Inspect the cartridge or washer for wear, cracks, or mineral buildup. Replace the worn washer or cartridge with a matching new part. Check and replace the O-ring if it appears damaged or brittle. Apply a small amount of plumber's grease to the new parts for smooth operation. Insert the new cartridge or stem into the faucet body. Tighten the retaining nut securely without over-tightening. Reattach the faucet handle and tighten the screw firmly. Ensure all parts are aligned and seated properly before testing. Turn the water supply valves back on slowly. Open the faucet and check for proper water flow. Inspect the faucet for any leaks around the handle or spout. Tighten any loose connections if necessary. Clean up tools and dispose of old parts properly.
