Always turn off power at the breaker before working with electrical fixtures., Use a voltage tester to confirm wires are not live before touching them., Use a stable ladder or step stool to avoid falls., Wear safety glasses when drilling or handling wires.
Turn off the power to the bathroom light circuit at the main breaker panel. Use a voltage tester to confirm the power is off at the light fixture wires. Remove the light bulbs from the existing vanity fixture and set them aside. Unscrew and remove the fixture cover or mounting plate to expose the wiring. Support the fixture while disconnecting the black, white, and ground wires. Remove the old mounting bracket if it is not compatible with the new fixture. Install the new mounting bracket included with the new vanity light fixture. Match and connect the black (hot) wires using a wire nut and electrical tape. Connect the white (neutral) wires using a wire nut and secure with tape. Attach the ground wire to the green screw or ground wire on the new fixture. Tuck the wires neatly into the electrical box behind the fixture. Align the new fixture with the mounting bracket and secure it with screws. Ensure the fixture is level and firmly attached to the wall. Install the light bulbs recommended for the new fixture. Attach any decorative covers or shades included with the fixture. Double-check all connections and mounting hardware for tightness. Turn the power back on at the breaker panel. Test the new vanity light to ensure it operates correctly. Clean the fixture and surrounding area to complete the installation. Dispose of the old fixture and packaging materials properly.
